The Peak District Article Count: 7
The Peak District is one of the best places in the country for mountain biking.
The routes described here include some classic "must do" trails. The region is made up of two areas:
The Dark Peak
The trails here are typically rocky and technical with singletrack stretching across Gritstone moors.
The White Peak
Less popular with mountain bikers this Limestone area still offers top quality trails varying from bridleways through the dales to full on rocky descents.

Leicestershire is not the first place that springs to mind when people look for mountain bike routes. However it is where I live and there is still some nice riding to be had. These are my local trails.
The riding is mostly on bridleways across farmland, green lanes and field tracks. The soil is predominantly clay and these routes are all best avoided if it is even slightly damp.

There are miles of quality singletrack trails in the Nottinghamshire woodlands.
The soil is also sandy and well drained for the most part making all year round riding possible.
As an alternative the local bridleways also offer fast flowing field edge riding.
