New years day 2011 fell on a Saturday so the usual Saturday afternoon ride was on to blow out the hangovers from the night before! Seven of us including myself showed up on a damp and mild (compared to recent) day.

We set off over slippery bridge without incident and then Mick took the lead taking us into the old pit site at Calverton. We then dipped back into the woods for some singletrack. It was hard going on the soft, damp ground and the logs to be crossed were damn slippy! After a couple of hours of our favourite trails we headed back via the pit again. Nick had a comedy over the bars before we finished across the fields from Calverton. These were horrible: soggy and just plain hard work. We were all ready for a pint at the end.
