Those of us on mountain bikes headed out north then turned towards Southwell before heading for the Trent valley and eventually the The Vol at Caythorpe. Basically a big loop of field edge bridleways and other trails.

At the top of the first climb I had to loose a layer. It was more like summer than spring!

It did cloud over a bit but remained a warm dry day. Everyone had worked up a thirst by the time we got to the pub stop after about two hours riding. The roadies had been out Newark way and back. We had finished our first pint by the time they arrived.

A couple of pints was probably not the best preparation for the sprint back to Oxton? Once we had exited the bridleway past Lowdham Mill the pace went up and nobody was stopping for anything! We arrived back at The Bridge split into groups with everyone feeling the pace.
