The bridleway from Somerby to Owston was a pleasant surprise. It probably gets more horse traffic than most due to the riding school at the end of it but it is a nice piece of singletrack once you have crossed the bridge half way. Usually heavily used bridleways around here are horrible but maybe because all the riders seem to go single file and it does get ridden when it is dry? This one has turned to singletrack instead of a bumpy nightmare.
By the time we had looped out almost as far as Tilton and got back to Somerby we needed our lights to see us home. As soon as the sun went the temperature dropped quite a lot and we both felt the effects of the cold on our muscles as we climbed the last hill towards Melton.
