The banter had started last night before the ride had! The first recipient was Phil who arrived last. He wasn't late but everyone else was ready early so he got plenty of advice on getting ready! He managed it without getting too flustered ;) As we rolled out of the car park Medium Steve and Robbo managed to have a collision and end up on the floor! You can imagine the laughing and p*ss taking...

The approach of last weekend had me excited for two reasons: it was our first overnight away trip of the year and I also had a new bike to try out :) I got my new Ibis Mojo HD 140 frame on Wednesday so there were a couple of evenings frantic building to get it ready for the weekend. Luckily everything went fairly smoothly with only a couple of minor technical issues to resolve.

It had been p*ssing down all morning on Saturday so I was surprised to see 5 riders other than myself in the car park when I arrived at The Bridge. Luckily the rain had subsided to next to nothing and stayed that way for the ride. Obviously the trails were muddy though! One of the good things about the Nottinghamshire woods is their sandy soil. Whatever the weather they are always ridable. Saturday was about as bad as they get but that was still very good compared to the clay of Leicestershire (where I live) that is completely unridable all through winter.

After a weekend off the bike because of DIY it was good to be back out. Trail conditions last Thursday were varied to say the least! Some places were wet and boggy, some were smooth and fast and some were loose, sandy and dry. That kept things interesting on the tyre grip front.
